GETTIN DOWN UPDATE 5, SEPTEMBER, 2010

HAPPY LABOR DAY (Now a Chinese Holiday)

So.............here we are in Bend Or. for one more day, then off to Junction City. With all the offloading of our labor, which was valued so much we made it a National holiday. High quality, innovation, dedication, and determination to make this country great Now a memory. Top candidate for renaming....Nuevo Shanghai Babalonia.

What a nice week. Believe it or not (thanks Mr. Ripley) we had snow here in August. The locals claim Bend, OR. is the only place on the planet where you can experience all 4 seasons in one day. We met up with Pio Pico regulars, Terry and Glenda, a fellow Rohr retiree. We joined up with Gene & Darlene, and took a trip to Sisters. A good time for all. McDonoughs & Brehms took a scenic tour along the Cascade Lakes Highway. About a hundred Miles, of beautiful scenery. Tomorow we leave for Junction City for upgrades, then on to the Coast, and a couple of months to reach SoCal for the winter. Hope all is good for you! Look forward to seeing you in the winter or wherever we can hook up.

Love & God Bless.........................

WELCOME TO SISTERS

Sisters Oregon, just a stones throw North West of Bend, Oregon. Named for the three sisters; Too hot, Too cold, and Just right. Actually, more boring, mountains; North Sister, South Sister, and guess who's in between? You bet............. middle Sister. Nice little town with adeqaute public restrooms.

HIGH CLASS INVASION OF SISTERS.

Gene, Diane, Terry, Glenda, Darlene, and I decided we should visit the town of Sisters, home of Dan Fouts, yea! go Chargers! It is kind of a touista town with an old western flavor and history. It has the typical art galleries, expresso shops, and boutiques. Worth visiting.

leonard the chipmunk

When my kids were little, we took the Heavenly Valley ski lift to the top. It was summer in Tahoe, so no snow, but the view of Lake Tahoe was wonderful, and as we sat on the rocks, watching the scenery, there were a bunch of little chipmunks dashing about. Donna said, look Dad, there's a chickmouse. Ever since, I have always though "chickmouse" was a better name.

STUMP BREAK

Well, here we are, taking a break on the edge of a beautiful Oregon Cascade lake. Nice weather, nice scenery, good friends.

THE MARINA AT ELK LAKE

Elk Lake has one of the nicer resort areas of all the lakes on our tour. Elk Lake has a marina, boat and floater rentals, a restaurant and a whole group of beutiful scenery.

OREGON NATURAL BEAUTY

For those of you who have been here before, I can't describe the beauty you have seen, but if you haven't been here, you have missed one of God's favorites.

NORTH SISTER FROM ELK LAKE

This is one of the several lakes we stopped at or drove by on our tour of the Cascade Lakes. They were all beautiful with Mt Bachelor and the "Sisters" in the backround.

HAPPY HOUR AT THE BREHM'S

After a nice tour through the Cascade Lakes Highway, all the party people gathered at our place for drinks, music, conversation, and good friendship. From left to right; Cowboy Geno, Hi Tech Terry, Glenda, the good witch, Deer Diane, Darling Darlene, And your resident publisher..
