SALUTATIONS FROM SHERIDAN, WY 25 JULY, 2013

         YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAWW, SHERIDAN, WY

INSIDE THE MINT BAR, SHERIDAN, WY

One of the most famous and popular cowboy bars in the high plains. This place reminded me of Hussong's in Ensenada on a busy day. Standing room only.

RODEO ROPE KING OF THE USA

I'm glad we have visited Kings Saddlery on a previous visit because we visited on Sunday this year, and being a traditional American town, Sheridan, WY, rolls up the sidewalks on Sunday, so a visit was out of the question. It looks like a hole in the wall from the street, but it is huge inside.

WEST ENTRANCE TO GLACIER NAT'L PARK

We are camped at Columbia Falls, MT, which is just North and East of Whitefish and Kalispell. The Park entrance is just 20 minutes East of our camp.

SNOW IN THE PEAKS, LATE JULY AT GLACIER PARK

This is a wonderful place to visit this time of the year. Water is running everywhere, vegetation is bright green, snow in the peaks and mountain goats wander the hills.

DIANE DRIVES THROUGH A WATERFALL

The mountain roads in the Park, especially the "Going to the Sun" road, offers almost constant views of waterfalls. Some way off in the distance, and some right next to the road, as we see here.

CLIFF HANGER

When I first saw this, I thought I was somewhere in the mountains of Ecuador. This cliff bridge is all constructed of native boulders. Pretty narrow, but part of the thrill of driving the "Going to the Sun" road.

LAKE McDONALD, AND GLACIER VALLEY

Hard to take a bad photo in Glacier Park. This is a view of the glacier formed valley at the end of Lake McDonald.
Hope you all are having a wonderful summer. We depart tomorrow for St. Regis, MT. for 1 day, then on to Newport, WA (Little Diamond Preserve) for a three week sabbatical from all this pressure.

GLACIER PARK EXCURSION CAR

These are interesting tour cars run by the Park. They seat somewhere between 12 and 16 people. They appear to be 1930's vehicles, but I believe they are pretty modern. They are manufactured by Ford and run on propane fuel.

HOWDY FROM THE WONDERLAND CAVE, 21 JULY, 2013

  1.     This is the entrance to the Wonderland Cave in South Dakota.

WONDERLAND CAVE DWELLERS

  1. We were happy to be able to share this experience with good friends Glen & Grace Davis.

STALAGTITES & STALAGMITES

  1. Kind of looks like a huge shark mouth, huh?

VARIOUS FORMATIONS

  1. Not a huge cavern, but an interesting one. Constant yearly temperature of 47 degrees. On the left you can see cave bacon, To the right are stalagtites on top and some stalagmites forming below them. To the right, you can see columns, where the stalagmites meet the stalagtites.

CAVE BACON FORMATION

2.
The cave was discovered by a miners dog, who chased a rabbit into a cave entrance. The cave was mined for a while, but didn't pan out. They decided it was worth more as a tourist attraction.
This formation is called "bacon" due to it's appearance.

FAMOUS "KING" ROPES & SADDLERY, SHERIDAN, WY

My guess is that every rodeo cowboy in the country know about this place. Unfortunately, we were there on Sunday this time, and it was locked up, but we have been there before.

1930'S 8 CYLINDER RACE BIKE

This old monster from the 30's is sporting an eight cylinder motor. You can see the four plugs on the right side, well, the left side has four more.

ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPER'S CHOPPER

Yep! even some choppers. This beaut was built by the Teutles, Paul, Pauly, and Mikey from OCC.

1908 INDIAN MOTORCYCLE

There was a variety of brands at the museum, but I think most were old Indians. There were also many Harleys, Triumphs, BSAs, Matchless, Ariels, Hodakas, a Honda, Nortons and more.

ANCIENT BEAUTY

This old 1906 Indian Motorcycle proudly sits in the window of the "Motorcycle Hall of Fame, and Museum" in Sturgis, SD
